As the
competitiveness of high school and college volleyball programs has grown,
junior volleyball programs such as River City Volleyball Club (RCVBC) have
been established to give promising young players the opportunity to improve
themselves as players at the high school and middle school level. RCVBC has
been established to provide for the development of our young athletes. Its
purpose is to help participating athletes to improve their skills through
structured practices and competition in tournaments and league play.
We are a not-for-profit organization and a member of USA Volleyball, the
national sanctioning body for the sport. It is our intention to run our
programs to be in full compliance with the State of Wisconsin and NCAA rules
and regulations.
It is our desire to develop sportsmanship through competitive situations in
our program. Winning, or more accurately, striving to win, is essential to
enjoyable competition. Our goal is to strive to win and to compete to the
best of the athlete’s abilities. Winning is important but we must recognize
that the process of striving to win can bring out the best in development.
For us to provide these benefits, it is vital to maintain a proper
perspective about winning. Winning must be kept in perspective, not only now
but in the heat of the contest; not only when we are winning, but more
importantly when we are losing; not only when things go right, but when
things go wrong. |
